cooking activities for kids (minimal parental involvement*)

Make your own ice lollies

Ingredients & equipment

Fruit Juice ( you can make your own or buy some. )

A  mould ( if you don’t have an ice lolly mould this could be an ice cube tray. )

Method

1. Pour the fruit juice into the mould.

2. Carefully put the mould into the freezer and leave it for four hours.

3. Take it out and enjoy!



Make your own fairy bread

Ingredients & equipment

One slice of white bread

Sprinkles

Butter

Knife

Method

Butter a slice of bread.

Scatter the sprinkles onto the bread.

Eat & enjoy



Make your own chia seed pudding

Ingredients and equipment

 one banana

 200 g of oats

 450 mL of milk

 4 tablespoons of  chia seeds

 1 tablespoon of vanilla essence

 2 tablespoons of maple syrup

Method

mash the banana in a big bowl and stir

leave in the fridge overnight 


Make your own fruit salad

Ingredients & equipment

A variety of fruit 

A knife

Method

Chop up the fruit.

Put it into a bowl and enjoy!

Make your own fruit juice

One juicer 

However many fruits you want 

A cup 

Sugar ( optional )

Method 

Cut the fruits in half 

Juice the fruits on the juicer

Pour the juice into the cup ( if you want you can use sugar )



Make your own fruit skewers

Ingredients & equipment   

grapes and berries

 wooden skewer

 one knife

Method

 chop up the fruit

 carefully spike the fruits onto the skewer

 eat and enjoy!


Make your own star sandwiches

None of the recipes suggested above involve the use of an oven or hob.  So kids, you cannot burn yourselves!  However, some do require the use of a knife.  Please always speak to a grown up before you use a knife, to check if you are allowed.
